EMBROIDERY FAQs

Embroidery FAQs (Pricing, Artwork, Turnaround & Ordering)

Embroidery is a premium and long-lasting branding method for uniforms, polos, jackets and corporate apparel. Below are the most common embroidery questions our customers ask.

✅ Important note:
Embroidery pricing depends on stitch count, logo size, placements and garment type. Prices shown throughout the website are guides only unless confirmed in a quote.

✅ Embroidery Pricing FAQs

1) Why does embroidery pricing vary so much?

Embroidery pricing varies because embroidery cost depends mainly on:
✅ stitch count (logo complexity + size)
✅ number of embroidery positions
✅ garment type
✅ digitising or setup fees

A larger or more detailed logo requires more stitches, which increases cost.

2) What is stitch count and why does it matter?

Stitch count is the number of stitches required to embroider your design.

  • Simple logos = lower stitch count = lower cost
  • Detailed or large logos = higher stitch count = higher cost

Stitch count is one of the biggest drivers of embroidery pricing.

3) What is digitising and why do I have to pay for it?

Digitising is the process of converting your logo into an embroidery stitch file (used by embroidery machines).

Digitising is:
✅ usually a one-time cost per logo
✅ required for any new logo design
✅ based on logo complexity

If you reorder the same logo later, you generally won’t need to pay digitising again (unless the artwork changes).

4) Do you charge machine setup fees?

Some embroidery jobs may include a setup fee depending on:

  • Job complexity
  • How the logo needs to be positioned
  • Garment type
  • Machine configuration requirements

Your quote will outline any setup fees clearly.

5) Is embroidery cheaper than printing?

Embroidery can be cheaper or more expensive depending on the design.

Embroidery is usually best when:
✅ you want a premium uniform finish
✅ you are stitching a simple logo
✅ you want durability over time

Printing may be more cost-effective when:
✅ your design is full colour
✅ your design includes gradients or photos
✅ the logo is very large or detailed

✅ Artwork & Design FAQs

6) What file formats do you need for embroidery?

Preferred artwork formats:

  • MB
  • DST

Other formats like PNG or JPG are accepted as a starting point, but will require artwork clean-up. Charges apply to clean up artwork.

7) Can you embroider photos or gradients?

No - embroidery cannot stitch photographic designs or gradients.

If your artwork is photographic or highly detailed, we may recommend:

  • DTF printing
  • DTG printing

8) Can embroidery include multiple colours?

Yes, embroidery can include multiple thread colours.

However:

  • More colours can increase complexity.
  • Fine details may need simplification.
  • Thread colour matching is based on available thread charts.

9) What’s the best embroidery logo size?

The most common and cost-effective embroidery size is:

  • 10cm × 10cm on the chest

Smaller logos can be cheaper. Larger logos increase stitch count and cost.

✅ Ordering & Turnaround FAQs

10) How long does embroidery take?

Standard embroidery turnaround is typically:
✅ approx. 2 weeks

Turnaround begins after:

  • Quote approval
  • Artwork approval
  • Digitising is complete
  • Invoice is paid

During busy seasons (Christmas/New Year), please allow extra time.

11) Can I get embroidery urgently?

Urgent embroidery may be possible depending on:

  • Stock availability
  • Machine capacity
  • Logo complexity

If your order is urgent:
✅ Submit artwork immediately
✅ Confirm your deadline
✅ Request express shipping if needed

12) Do you offer pickup?

Pickup is available in:
✅ Brisbane
✅ Melbourne

Please check the shipping/pickup page for the latest location rules and instructions.

13) Do you deliver Australia-wide?

Yes - we ship Australia-wide and offer express shipping for tight deadlines.

✅ BYO (Bring Your Own) Garment FAQs

14) Can I bring my own garments for embroidery?

Yes - BYO embroidery is available for some orders.

However:
⚠️ BYO garments are supplied at the client’s risk.
We cannot refund or replace client-supplied garments.

15) Is BYO embroidery cheaper than supplied garments?

BYO embroidery is often cheaper because:
✅ You provide the garment
✅ The quote only includes embroidery costs and setup fees.

However:
Your BYO garment must be suitable for embroidery (fabric weight and structure).

✅ Placement & Quality FAQs

16) What embroidery placements do you offer?

Common embroidery placements include:

  • Left chest
  • Right chest
  • Sleeve
  • Back neck (small)
  • Large back (higher stitch count)

17) Will embroidery damage my garment?

Embroidery is safe for most garments, but:

  • Very thin garments may pucker or distort
  • Stretchy fabric can affect stitch stability
  • Delicate garments may not suit embroidery

We may recommend DTF printing when embroidery is unsuitable.

18) How should I wash embroidered garments?

To protect embroidery:

  • ✅ Wash cold
  • ✅ Turn garment inside out
  • ✅ Avoid harsh detergents
  • ✅ Avoid high heat drying
  • ✅ Do not iron directly over embroidery

✅ Quote & Payment FAQs

19) What info do you need to quote embroidery?

We need:

  1. Quantity + size breakdown
  2. Garment type (supplied or BYO)
  3. Placement(s)
  4. Logo size in cm
  5. Deadline
  6. Pickup or shipping
  7. Artwork file (vector preferred)
