DTG Care Instructions: How to Look After DTG Printed Garments
DTG (Direct-to-Garment) printing produces a soft and premium print finish, especially on cotton garments. Like all print methods, correct care is essential to maintain colour vibrancy and ensure the print lasts.
Follow the care instructions below to protect your DTG printed garments.
Before Washing
Allow garments to rest for 24–48 hours after printing.
This allows the ink and curing process to fully set.
Avoid washing or tumble drying during this period.
If needed, place a cloth or baking paper between the iron and the print.
What to Avoid
To preserve DTG print quality, avoid:
Dry cleaning
High-heat washing or drying
Scrubbing directly over the printed area
Heavy friction from rough garments (e.g., jeans) in the same wash
Expected Print Durability
With proper care:
DTG prints remain soft and detailed
Colours stay vibrant
Print cracking and fading is minimised
Improper care may lead to fading or loss of sharpness over time.
Why DTG Care Matters
DTG printing uses ink that is absorbed into fabric fibres. Heat and harsh chemicals can weaken print vibrancy over time, especially with repeated washing. Correct care keeps garments looking better for longer.
