DTF Care Instructions: How to Look After DTF Printed Garments

Following the correct care instructions is essential to maintain the appearance and longevity of DTF (Direct-to-Film) printed garments. Proper washing, drying, and handling will help preserve print quality and fabric condition.

Before Washing

  • Allow the garment to rest for 24 hours after printing.
  • This allows the adhesive and print to fully cure.
  • Avoid wearing or washing the garment during this period.

Washing Instructions

For best results:

  • Turn the garment inside out
  • Wash in cold water only
  • Use a gentle wash cycle
  • Wash with similar colours
  • Use mild detergent

Avoid:

  • Bleach or harsh detergents
  • Fabric softeners
  • Hot water washes

Drying Instructions

  • Air dry whenever possible
  • Hang dry inside out

If using a dryer:

  • Use low heat only
  • Remove promptly once dry

Avoid:

  • High heat drying
  • Over-drying garments

Ironing Instructions

If ironing is required:

  • Turn garment inside out
  • Use low heat
  • Do not iron directly over the print

Alternatively, place a cloth or baking paper between the iron and the print.

What to Avoid

To extend the life of your DTF print, avoid:

  • Dry cleaning
  • High-heat washing or drying
  • Direct friction on the printed area
  • Excessively stretching the print

Expected Durability

With proper care:

  • DTF prints remain vibrant
  • Cracking and peeling are minimised
  • Garments retain their shape and finish

Improper care may lead to premature fading or damage.

Why Care Instructions Matter

DTF prints are durable but still require correct handling. Following these instructions helps ensure your custom printed garments look good for as long as possible.
